When do Edinburgh Fringe tickets go on sale?

The short answer

The Edinburgh Festival Fringe puts shows on sale in batches, months before August. For 2026, the first 351 shows went on sale on 11 February, more followed on 1 April and 6 May, and the full programme launched on 4 June. The Fringe Society has not yet given 2027 dates; the 80th Fringe runs 6 to 30 August 2027.

What is known for 2027

The 80th Edinburgh Festival Fringe runs from 6 to 30 August 2027. The Fringe Society's pages give no 2027 on-sale or programme launch date yet. They say show registration for 2027 opens in January, and that the printed 2027 programme will be available to pre-order in spring. Shows can keep registering right up to and even during the Fringe, so new shows go on sale on edfringe.com long after any launch date.

The 2026 pattern

In 2026 the Fringe Society released shows in batches. The first 351 shows were announced and could be booked from 11 February 2026. A second batch went on sale at 13:00 on 1 April, bringing the total to 2,083, and a third on 6 May took it to 3,599. The full programme launched on 4 June 2026 with 3,649 shows, and the festival opened on 7 August. These dates show the rhythm of a Fringe year; they are not 2027 dates.

Where to book

Edinburgh Fringe tickets are sold online at edfringe.com, 24 hours a day. After the June programme launch the Fringe Box Office at 180 High Street also takes bookings by phone and in person; in 2026 its phone and counter service opened on 17 July. The official EdFringe app follows later in the summer. Every Fringe show is e-ticketed, and shows booked in one transaction share a single QR code.
