The Congress Avenue Bridge bats

Up to 1.5 million Mexican free-tailed bats live under the bridge, the biggest bat colony in any city on earth. They fly south to Mexico as the first cold fronts arrive, late October to mid-November, so an early-November flight is a maybe. Watch for free from the Statesman's Bat Observation Area on the southeast side; the bat boats stop after October.
